This diploma thesis explores the concept of theatricality as developed by the Swiss theatrologist Stefan Hulfeld. The thesis aims at a presentation of Hulfeld's research which is based on examination of historical documents, his particular focus being the theatricality of the 18. century in Solothurn (Switzerland). In this thesis, his theory is compared to other theatricality theories developed by Rudolf Münz and Andreas Kotte. The more general aim of the presented work is to devise a notion of theatricality which is based on historical- theatrological exploration of historical documents.
Baroque liturgical textiles in the collections of the Episcopal Diocese of České Budějovice

v anglickém jazyce The book presents an array of woven patterned fabrics from church treasuries in the territory of the Diocese of České Budějovice. The examples provided originate in the period spanning from the 16th to the 18th century, and they represent only a small selection of the surviving collections. The focal point consists of a magnificent collection of textiles from the 18th century, documenting the development of the individual historical spheres of decors overlapping into corresponding variants of design. The variability of patterns pertaining to this century is unusually high, and it combines a large number of sources of inspiration with roots in exotic overseas countries. The catalogue entries are furnished with brief technological analyses that offer an insight into the textile production of the respective periods and, at the same time, they provide researchers with a deeper understanding of the individual fabrics on display. Although the area of the Diocese of České Budějovice to a certain degree exceeds the boundaries of the Region of South Bohemia, the collections examined were, in their majority, imported from western European countries manufacturing weaving products of world renown. The court of appeal in Bohemia between 1749-1790 (1850)

The Court of Appeal in Bohemia between 1749 and 1790 (1850) This thesis describes the development of The Court of Appeal in Bohemia between the years 1749 and 1850. The main aim of this thesis is the description of the role of this court in the system of justice in the second half of the eighteen century and the description of the effects of reforms of Maria Theresa and Joseph II on the constitution, structure and function of the court. In the form, which the court acquired at the time of the rule of Joseph II, the court remained for another sixty years. The Court of Appeal in Bohemia was founded in the year 1548. From the beginning it was a royal court and was empowered to hear appeals of municipal courts. Its competence was extended during the ages. On the contrary the district of the court was limited during the eighteen century only to Bohemia. In the year 1850 the court was transformed into Higher Regional Court in Prague.

The picture of David Hoyer from Jan Kupecký at Leipzig

The thesis focuses on portrait on painting of David Hoyer from baroque artist Jan Kupecky that is placed in Museum der bildenden Künste in Leipzig. Firstly, I will deal with life and work of the author Jan Kupecky. The main focus will be dedicated to the painting from 1711 which depicts Saxon painter David Hoyer with lyra. I will try to unveil more information about life of the depicted man, consequently, I will concentrate on the actual type of portaval style and mention other significant work of the same nature made by the author prior 1711. This actual painting example will allow me to show how the portrait creation was forming not only in life of Jan Kupecky but also in context of whole Europe.

Terrasson's novel Sethos and englightenment Egyptomania

This bachelor thesis is focused on understanding of the early egyptomania, namely a detailed analysis of the French novel Sethos. On quated philosophical works attemps to present opinion of some philosophers to ancient Egypt. The aim is to analyze religion in the novel and to contribute to the view that the interest in ancient Egypt counts before Napoleon's expedition to Egypt. To this view, the work seeks to reach using selected philosophical and contemporary works by comparing the rituals of Freemasonry and the ancient Egyptians focused on the so-called ritual of the four elements. The main part of the thesis is based on the novel of the enlightened priest Jean Terrasson - Sethos. The thesis summarizes the plot and focuses on the comparison of ancient Egyptian religion and rituals in the novel with reality. Also on the author's life and its integration into contemporary context. The second part of the essay is based on a philosophical view of Athanasius Kircher, Voltaire, Giambattista Vico and Johann Jakob Brucker. The last part of this work compares rituals of ancient Egypt with rituals of Freemasons. Brief history of Freemasons is also mentioned in this work.
Te Deum in a Bohemian music of the 18th century, edition of selected compositions, analysis

The goal of this thesis is observing the functions that the setting of the text Te Deum laudamus had throughout the musical history, approximately since the fifteenth century. It examines the occasions for which the Te Deum was written by important composers of their times. The study focuses on Czech eighteenth-century music, addressing the lack of research in this period. Works of two important Czech composers of Classicism, Jan Zach and Vojtěch Jírovec, were chosen for edition, which consists in transcribing the works into today{\crq}s clefs and presenting them in scores. The study further deals with the form and style of the selected works.
